LOWELL, Mass. - Greg Mauldin's goal at 8:50 of the third period foiled a Lowell Devils rally as the Bridgeport Sound Tigers pulled away for a 4-2 victory on Sunday at the Tsongas Center. The Devils' loss allowed the Sound Tigers to pull into a tie for fourth place in the Atlantic Division with Lowell.

Down 2-1 heading into the third period, the Devils got the equalizer at 3:15 of the period when they picked up their first power play goal of the match. Ben Walter danced around the defense deep in the Sound Tiger zone before feeding Michael Swift for a snapshot and his 21st of the season.

Five minutes later, the Sound Tigers took a 3-2 lead when Mauldin was left alone in front and Jesse Joensuu found him from the behind the net for the wrist shot over the glove of Mike McKenna.

The Sound Tigers put the final nail in the coffin when Matt Martin fed a long pass ahead to Sean Bentivoglio, who went in alone and snuck a backhander inside the near post with 1:17 remaining in regulation.

With its first full power play of the game, Bridgeport took a 1-0 lead at 15:16 of the first with Mike Radja whipping a wrist shot from the near point that snuck past a screened McKenna.

The Sound Tigers added to the lead at 2:43 of the second period as Robin Figren pulled wide down the right wing and tucked a forehand past the goal line.

In his return to the line-up after missing 14 games, Brad Mills got Lowell on the board and cut the Sound Tigers' lead in half at 6:26 of the same period. The Devils rally started when Louis Robitaille found a loose puck along the wall and fluttered a pass into the slot that Mills rattled off the iron and into the net for his 10th of the season.

McKenna made 30 saves on 34 shots and fell to 22-15-6 on the season.

The Lowell Devils wrap up their seven-game homestand on Wednesday, Mar. 31 at 7:00PM versus the Manchester Monarchs. Tune into AM1510 or go online to AHLlive.com to catch all of the live Devils action. For more information, call (978) 458-PUCK or go to www.lowelldevilshockey.com.
