Stars Whitewash Wolves, 5-0

ROSEMONT, Ill.---The Chicago Wolves fell behind just over two minutes into the game and never solved Texas Stars goaltender Brent Krahn on the way to being shut out, 5-0, at the Allstate Arena Sunday night.
Chicago (46-21-1-6) and Texas (43-24-3-4) are vying for the top spot in the American Hockey League's West Division, with the Wolves holding a six-point lead for first place with six regular-season games remaining on each team's schedule.
Krahn (16-3-0) turned aside all 36 of Chicago's shots to collect his fifth shutout of the season, the fourth against the Wolves in 74 games this year.
"You can't give up bad goals against a good team," said Wolves Head Coach Don Lever. "We were just too soft and they outworked us."
Texas took the lead 2:19 into the contest when a Wolves player was stripped of the puck along the boards in his own zone and center Aaron Gagnon kicked it out to right wing Colton Sceviour, who moved in and slid a shot under Wolves goaltender Drew MacIntyre.
The Stars made their lead two with just under three minutes remaining in the first period. After a flurry of action in front of the net, Perttu Lindgren gained control of the puck and sent a pass to center Travis Morin in the right face-off circle, where Morin turned and put a shot into the open right side of the net.
Texas opened up a 3-0 lead at 7:23 of the third period when Mathieu Tousignant picked up a rebound off a Sceviour shot and backhanded the puck past MacIntyre.
The Stars scored their fourth goal of the night just 21 seconds later when left wing Luke Gazdic redirected a Raymond Sawada shot up over MacIntyre, stick side, sending the netminder to the bench in favor of Peter Mannino.
MacIntyre (20-16-2) posted 15 saves in 27:44 of action, while Mannino made 10 saves in 32:09 of relief duty.
The Stars added to their advantage, 5-0, when Warren Peters won a face-off and sent the puck to Francis Wathier, who flung it past Mannino with 22 seconds left in the second frame.
The Wolves hit the road for a three-game swing through Texas next week, beginning when they face the Houston Aeros at the Toyota Center on Wednesday at 7 p.m.
