
P-Bruins Fall to Sharks 3-2

Worcester, MA - The Providence Bruins fell to the Worcester Sharks 3-2 Saturday evening. Seth Griffith and Zach Trotman scored the Providence goals, while Niklas Svedberg made 32 saves in net.
In the opening period, both sides had chances and the Sharks thought they got on the board first on a goal from Freddie Hamilton at the 9:25 mark, but it was waved off. The game went into the first intermission scoreless.
In the second period the Sharks went on the power play and took a 1-0 lead at the 5:19 mark. Hamilton backhanded the puck top shelf for his 13 th goal of the season. Brodie Reid and Scott Fleming picked up the assists. Providence had a couple power play chances in the period, but it would be four seconds after a power play expired when they got on the board at the 14:43 mark. After Nick Johnson put a shot on net, Griffith picked up the loose puck to the right of the net and scored his 11 th goal of the season to tie the game at one. David Warsofsky had the secondary assist as the game went into the second intermission tied at one.
The P-Bruins took their first lead of the game at the 6:30 mark, while on the power play. Zach Trotman tallied his fifth goal of the season with a shot from the point. Johnson and Justin Florek recorded the assists. Less than two minutes later Worcester tied up the game at the 7:52 mark with a goal from Brodie Reid, his sixth of the season. Hamilton and Yanni Gourde grabbed the assists. Reid scored again at the 15:24 mark to give the Sharks the lead for good. Hamilton and Lane Scheidl had the assists as Worcester held on for the 3-2 victory.
Svedberg stopped 32 of 35 shots for the P-Bruins, while Troy Grosenick made 32 saves for the Sharks. The P-Bruins were 1-for-5 on the power play and 2-for-3 on the penalty kill.
The P-Bruins continue a five game road trip Tuesday against the St. John's IceCaps at 6:00pm. Providence returns to the Dunkin' Donuts Center on Sunday, February 9 at 3:05pm against the Springfield Falcons. The first 1,000 fans in attendance will receive a poster courtesy of J & R Marketing.
