ABBOTSFORD, BRITISH COLUMBIA - Abbotsford Heat forwards Corban Knight and Blair Jones each scored twice to lead Abbotsford (27-14-3-1) to a 6-0 shutout win over the Hamilton Bulldogs (20-19-0-4) on Friday evening at Abbotsford Entertainment & Sports Centre, snapping Hamilton's season-best, six-game road winning streak.
After a scoreless first period, the Heat opened the scoring at 10:26 of the second period on a power play goal by forward Markus Granlund, assisted by forwards Max Reinhart and Corban Knight.
Just over a minute later, Knight fired a wrist shot over the shoulder of Hamilton goaltender Dustin Tokarski to make it 2-0, assisted by forwards Brett Olson and Evan Trupp.
Knight notched his second goal of the night with 56 seconds left in the second period to make it 3-0 Heat, with assists from Trupp and defenceman Derek Smith.
Despite the 'Dogs out-shooting the Heat 14-9 in the third period and 34-28 overall, the Heat added three more unanswered goals in the third period.
At 7:20 of the final frame, forward Josh Jooris made it 4-0 Abbotsford, with assists from forwards Sven Baertschi and Corey Locke.
Just 2:32 later, forward Blair Jones extended the Heat's lead to five, assisted by Reinhart and Granlund.
Jones added a second goal of the night less than two minutes after that on the power play to make the score 6-0, with helpers from Smith and Locke.
Tokarski made 22 saves on 28 shots in the Bulldogs net in the loss. Joni Ortio stopped all 34 shots he faced for the Heat in the win.
The Bulldogs went 0-for-3 on the power play, while the Heat went 2-for-5.
