
P-Bruins Fall To Devils 5-1

Lowell, MA - The Providence Bruins fell to the Lowell Devils 5-1 Saturday evening at the Tsongas Arena. The P-Bruins got their lone goal from Trent Whitfield. The P-Bruins return home to the Dunkin' Donuts Center Friday, January 1 at 7:05 p.m. for Kid's Hat Night against the Bridgeport Sound Tigers.
The Devils took a 1-0 lead at the 4:32 mark of the opening period, while on the power play. Cory Murphy tallied his first goal of the season, with Alexander Vasyunov and Patrick Davis recording the assists. Lowell grabbed a 2-0 advantage at the 19:12 mark, while on a 5-on-3 power play. Michael Swift netted his eighth goal of the season, with Vasyunov and Murphy picking up the assists. Lowell led 2-0 going into the first intermission.
The P-Bruins pulled within a goal at the 11:40 mark of the second period. Drew Fata took a shot from the left point and the puck was tipped into the net by Whitfield, his seventh goal of the season. The Devils retook a two goal advantage at the 13:31 mark, while on the power play. Ben Walter scored his tenth goal of the season, with Tyler Eckford getting the lone assist. Lowell scored again at the 19:56 mark. Nick Palmieri tallied his tenth goal of the season, while Stephen Gionta and Brad Snetsinger had the assists. The Devils led 4-1 going into the second intermission.
Lowell finished off the scoring at the 8:49 mark of the third period. Swift netted his second goal of the game and ninth of the season, while Olivier Magnan and Matt Halischuk grabbed the assists. The Devils went on to the 5-1 victory.
Dany Sabourin stopped 27 of 32 shots for the P-Bruins, while Jeff Frazee made 31 saves for the Devils. The P-Bruins were 0-for-4 on the power play and 3-for-6 on the penalty kill.
