LOWELL, Mass. - Michael Swift scored twice and the Lowell Devils converted three times on the power play to defeat the Providence Bruins, 5-1, on Saturday at the Tsongas Arena. The win was Lowell's fifth in its last six games both at home and overall.

The Devils were able to use the power play to their advantage to own a 2-0 lead after the first period. Cory Murphy started things up at 4:31 of the first with a low wrist shot from the point that snuck inside the near post for his first of the season.

Skating on a 5-on-3, Lowell added to the scoreboard with 47.2 seconds left in the frame when Alexander Vasyunov's centering pass deflected off the skate of Swift and under the leg pad of Dany Sabourin.

Trent Whitfield made the score 2-1 and cut the Devils' lead in half at 11:40 of the second as he knocked down Drew Fata's long shot and wrapped the puck past Jeff Frazee.

Lowell responded on the man-advantage less than two minutes later when Ben Walter redirected Tyler Eckord's drive into the top of the net for his 10th of the season.

With time dwindling down in the period, Nick Palmieri also added his 10th of the year, settling down a Stephen Gionta centering pass to the far circle and firing it home with 3.8 seconds left on the clock.

Swift made it 5-1 in favor of Lowell at 8:49 of the third with his second of the evening. Frazee finished with 34 saves on 35 shots for his seventh win of the season.

The game marked the fifth time in the Devils' last six home games that they have scored five goals or more.

The Lowell Devils travel to take on the Worcester Sharks on Sunday, December 27 at 3:05PM. Tune into the live Devils action at WWZN-1510AM or go online to AHLlive.com. For tickets to Lowell Devils home games, call (978) 458-PUCK (7825) or visit lowelldevilshockey.com.
