Bulldogs Edged 4-2 By Americans

Rochester, NY - The Hamilton Bulldogs were defeated by the Rochester Americans 4-2 on Saturday night. Rochester scored three third period goals to lead the Americans to victory.

The Bulldogs opened the game's scoring at 12:19 of the opening period. While on the power play, David Desharnais fed a pass to Mathieu Darche, who was located at the left side of the net. Darche turned and fired a shot past Rochester starting goaltender Ryan Mior.

The Amerks tied the game 1-1 at 5:05 of the second stanza while on the power play. Keaton Ellerby sent the puck to Clay Wilson, who skated into the Bulldogs' zone. Wilson fed a pass to the front of the net, where Evgeny Dadonov batted the puck past Hamilton starting goaltender Curtis Sanford.

The ‘Dogs took a 2-1 lead at 1:07 of the final frame with a power-play goal. Ben Maxwell received the puck from Desharnais before sending a pass back to Andre Benoit. Benoit blasted a shot from the point that sailed through traffic and beat Mior.

Rochester tied the game 2-2 at 5:49 of the third period. Keaton Ellerby faked a shot, which put Sanford out of position. Ellerby proceeded to dish the puck to Jeff Taffe, who was positioned at the side of the net. Taffe slid the puck into an open net as Sanford could not get across the crease. Taffe scored his second goal at 13:22 to give the Americans a 3-2 lead. Ellerby settled the puck down before centering a pass to Taffe. Taffe fired a shot that beat Sanford through the five-hole. Ellerby added an empty-net marker at 19:58 to seal the win for Rochester.

The Bulldogs will host their arch-rival the Toronto Marlies on Monday, December 28th for Kids Night at 7:30 p.m. at Copps Coliseum.
