WORCESTER, MA - Behind eight different multi-point scorers, the Worcester Sharks captured the Springfield Falcons in a 7-2 win on Saturday night at the DCU Center.
Worcester's Benn Ferriero scored two goals and two assists continuing a three game point streak, with Mike Moore compiling three assists and was +5. The Sharks set a season high with seven total goals in the game and three goals in the first period.
After an early first period fight between Brandon Mashinter and Geoff Paukovich, Worcester's Benn Ferreiro retaliated with a shorthanded goal at 6:23. Dan DaSilva brought the Sharks to a 2-0 lead at 10:50 when he knocked in a weak side goal past Springfield's Levasseur. At 17:29, Zalewski scored on a 5 on 3 powerplay, the first time the Sharks have scored three goals in a period this season.
Callahan netted a wristshot for Worcester at 2:55 in the second period, assisted by Ferreiro and Zalewski. Logan Couture tapped in Mike Moore's slapshot rebound at 14:40 to bring the Shark's in 5-0. Springfield's Bill Thomas responded at 17:28, scoring his fifth goal of the season and the Falcon's first goal of the game.
McCarthy scored at :26 seconds in the third on a one-on-one breakaway against Springfield's Dean Arsene. Shortly after, Benn Ferriero sniped his second goal of the game against Springfield's Sorochan at 6:05 in the third, Ferriero's sixth goal of the season. On a powerplay at 7:12, Taylor Chorney netted Springfield's second goal of the game against Stalock, to bring the score to 7-2, with the Sharks eventually captured the win.
With the win, the Sharks move to 17-12-0-2 (36 points) on the season.
