
P-Bruins Defeat Sound Tigers 3-2 in Shootout

Bridgeport, CT - The Providence Bruins defeated the Bridgeport Sound Tigers 3-2 in a shootout Tuesday evening at the Webster Bank Arena at Harbor Yard. The P-Bruins got their goals in regulation from Jeremy Reich and Jordan Caron and in the shootout from Zach Hamill and Jamie Arniel . Providence is back in action at the Dunkin' Donuts Center Friday at 7:05 p.m. for Dunkin' Donuts Mug Night against the Manchester Monarchs.
The P-Bruins took a 1-0 lead at the 1:15 mark of the opening period. Jeff Penner controlled the puck in the P-Bruins zone, before chipping it into the neutral zone for Hamill. He found Reich down the left wing, who skated towards the faceoff circle and shot the puck into the back of the net for his eighth goal of the season. Providence led 1-0 going into the first intermission.
Bridgeport tied the game at one only 16 seconds into the second period, while on the power play. Michael Haley tallied his 12th goal of the season, with Robin Figren and David Ullstrom recording the assists. The game went into the second intermission tied at one.
The Sound Tigers took their first lead of the game at the 1:15 mark of the third period. Jason Pitton netted his third goal of the season, while Rob Hisey and Brett Motherwell picked up the assists. The P-Bruins tied the game at two at the 19:01 mark. Hamill fed the puck to Caron in front of the net, who scored his fourth goal of the season. The game went into overtime tied at two.
After a scoreless overtime, the game went into a shootout. Hamill scored first in round one to give the P-Bruins the 1-0 advantage, before Arniel tallied in round three to give Providence a 2-0 lead. Tony Romanoanswered back to bring the Sound Tigers within one, but the P-Bruins held on for the 3-2 shootout victory.
Matt Dalton stopped 15 of 17 shots in regulation and 4 of 5 shots in the shootout for the P-Bruins, while Nathan Lawson made 35 saves in regulation and 3 saves in the shootout for the Sound Tigers. The P-Bruins were 0-for-8 on the power play and 3-for-4 on the penalty kill.
Providence is back in action at The Dunk Friday for Dunkin' Donuts Mug Night at 7:05 p.m. against the Monarchs. The P-Bruins head back on the road Saturday to the Cumberland County Civic Center to take on the Portland Pirates at 7:00 p.m. Providence wraps up the weekend at The Dunk Sundayat 4:05 p.m. for Poster Night against the Monarchs.
