
P-Bruins Defeat Monarchs 4-1

Manchester, NH - The Providence Bruins defeated the Manchester Monarchs 4-1 Sunday afternoon at the Verizon Wireless Arena. The P-Bruins got their goals from Jeff Penner, Jeremy Reich, Joe Colborne and Steven Kampfer. Providence is back in action at the Dunkin' Donuts Center Friday at 7:05 p.m. for Kid's Hat Night against the Worcester Sharks.
The P-Bruins took a 1-0 lead at the 12:56 mark of the opening period. Kirk MacDonald picked up the puck behind the Monarchs net and sent it to the point for Kampfer. He passed it to Penner along the left boards, who tallied his second goal of the season. The Monarchs tied the game at one at the 14:53 mark, while on the power play. Oscar Moller netted his second goal of the season, with Brayden Schenn and Andrei Loktionov recording the assists. The game went into the first intermission tied at one.
Providence retook the lead at the 3:37 mark of the second period. Zach Hamill had the puck in the corner and left it halfway up the boards for David Ling. He passed it to Reich, who was waiting right outside the crease. Reich scored his fourth goal of the season. The P-Bruins made it 3-1 at the 4:07 mark. Jamie Arniel chipped the puck ahead to Kampfer. He found Colborne at the left faceoff circle, who tallied his sixth goal of the season. The P-Bruins finished off the scoring in the second period at the 8:42 mark. Antoine Roussel started the play in his own end and worked the puck up to Jordan Knackstedt. He left it to Kampfer along the right boards. Kampfer skated into the right faceoff circle and put the puck under the crossbar and into the net for his third goal of the season. The P-Bruins led 4-1 going into the second intermission.
After a scoreless third period, the P-Bruins went onto the 4-1 victory.
Michael Hutchinson stopped 27 of 28 shots for the P-Bruins, while Jeff Zatkoff made 10 saves and Martin Jones made 17 saves for the Monarchs. The P-Bruins were 0-for-6 on the power play and 3-for-4 on the penalty kill.
The P-Bruins hit the road Wednesday to face the Bridgeport Sound Tigers at 7:00 p.m. at Arena at Harbor Yard. Providence is back at the Dunkin' Donuts Center Friday for Kid's Hat Night at 7:05 p.m. against the Sharks.
