Houston Aeros News Release
HOUSTON --- Jarod Palmer scored the deciding goal with 1:39 left in regulation and added an assist, Anton Khudobin made 31 saves and Warren Peters collected a goal and a helper as the Houston Aeros upended the Texas Stars 4-2 Sunday at Toyota Center in front of 8,587 fans.
Khudobin, who is 5-1-1 in his last seven outings, made 13 saves in the third period. The Aeros (10-7-1-2, 24 pts.) have won four of their last five games and are now five points off the West Division lead held by San Antonio.
Houston's Matt Kassian scored his first goal since Jan. 16, 2010, to put the Aeros ahead at the 6:47 mark of the first. Texas responded quickly with Severin Blindenbachner beating Khudobin at 7:52, just 1:05 after Kassian's tally.
Texas took the lead on their third power play with Greg Rallo's fifth goal of the season, but the Aeros chipped away and tied it in dramatic fashion.
With just three-tenths of a second left in the middle frame, Warren Peters swept a Jarod Palmer centering feed past Stars goalie Tyler Beskorwany to knot the game at 2-2.
Jon DiSalvatore added an empty-net goal with 30 seconds left in regulation to seal the win.
The Aeros travel to Cedar Park to face the Stars (10-7-0-0) this Wednesday night at 7:30 p.m. and return home for a pair of games Friday (vs. San Antonio) and Saturday (Milwaukee), both at 7:35 p.m.
Get Center Ice seats, normally $38, for just $25 for both home games. On Saturday the first 2500 fans get Aeros cowbells. Call 713-974-7825 for more ticket information.
