Northern Colorado Owlz News Release

A fan-filled ballpark and post-game fireworks were not enough to get the Owlz past Billings on Friday night. The Owlz scored early, but were unable to hold back the hot hitting Mustangs who went on to win 7-1.

Alex Klonowski started off strong in the top of the first-inning, shutting down three of the four batters faced. His team was able to use this momentum going into the bottom of the inning to take the lead 1-0 on a Michael Hermosillo homerun, his third on the season.

However, the lead wouldn't last long as Billings bounced back in the third-inning to score four runs and take the lead 4-1.

That would be it for Klonowski as he left the game in the top of the fourth-inning after giving up four hits and four earned runs on the night. Michael Bolaski would take the mound and find himself in a similar situation after pitching four innings, giving up two hits and three earned runs.

As the Owlz' pitching struggled, their offense was no match for the Mustangs' pitching, which struck out nine, allowing only one run on four hits. A combined effort of great pitching and strong hitting allowed Billings to take game two of a four game series.

The third game of the series will be held Sunday at 7:05 P.M.
