Ogden Raptors News Release

The Ogden Raptors used all of their offense in the third inning, but it was enough in a 3-2 win over the Helena Brewers Sunday at Kendrick Legion Field.

Scoreless entering the third with one out, Hunter Redman singled to right field. After Melvin Santana struck out looking, Billy Bereszniewicz hit a triple into the right-field corner to score Redman. Cody Bellinger followed with a single to first to plate Bereszniewicz. Once Bellinger stole second, Hering singled in Bellinger to center to put Ogden up 3-0.

The Brewers answered with a run in the bottom of the inning. Eric Williams and Francisco Castillo started the inning with singles. Edgardo Rivera then reached on an error to load the bases. Tucker Neuhaus hit into a fielder's choice to score Williams and put the Brewers on the board, trailing 3-1.

It stayed that way until the ninth. Dionis Hinojosa doubled and Williams walked to begin the ninth. Castillo tried to bunt the runners over but popped up for the first out. After Rivera struck out, Neuhaus drove in another run with a single to make it a one-run game. Raptors reliever Brock Stewart struck out Mitch Meyer to end the game and convert his second save.

Ogden's pitching was solid on Sunday. Jeff Brigham started and allowed just one run on four hits with two strikeouts.

Francisco Martinez earned the win in his Raptors debut, pitching three shutout innings.

Vaughn Hayward and Billy Flamion combined for two scoreless innings to get the Raptors to the ninth with the lead.

The Brewers had their chances against the Raptors. Helena finished the game 1-for-13 with runners in scoring position and left 11 runners on base.

The Raptors and Brewers finish their four-game series Monday. J.D. Underwood takes the mound for Ogden against Helena's Jorge Ortega. Game starts at 7:05 and can be heard on 97.5 The Zone.
