Outlaws Win Close One in Orange County

The Chico Outlaws rebounded from Monday's 12-8 loss to Orange County, downing the Flyers 3-2 at Goodwin Field in game three of the four game series. Garret Holleran got the start for Chico, but ended up with a no-decision after leaving the game after six innings and the score tied at 2-2. Bobby Hill got the ball rolling for the Outlaws in the top of the first inning after center fielder Mitch Einertson walked to lead off. Hill crushed a ball over the right field fence to give Chico a 2-0 lead. The Flyers plated a run in the third inning on an RBI single from David Harris, one of three Orange County hits in the inning.

In the fifth, the Flyers got their second run of the game on a Derek Perren RBI single, tying the game at 2-2.

The Outlaws got to GBL All-Star reliever Mike Koons of the Flyers in the bottom of the eighth. Hill led off with a single and came in to score on JJ Sherrill's RBI double, giving the Outlaws a 3-2 lead. Josh Dew (4-0) pitched two scoreless innings in relief of Holleran to get the win, while Koons fell to 2-1 on the year with the loss. Matt Perisho picked up his sixth save of the year pitching the final inning to shut the door on Orange County.

The Outlaws improved to 3-3 in the second half with the win, while Orange County fell to 2-2 in the second half.

The series finale is set for Wednesday afternoon at 12:05 on Kid's Day at Goodwin Field. Leftie Demetrius Banks starts against right-hander Kevin Altman of the Flyers, with the Outlaws holding a tow games to one advantage in the series.
