INDIANAPOLIS - The Indy Fuel, proud ECHL affiliate of the NHL's Chicago Blackhawks and the AHL's Rockford IceHogs, announced Tuesday that the team has traded the rights to forward Travis Ouellette to the Gwinnett Gladiators in exchange for the rights to forward Bobby Hughes. A 6'0", 185 lb. left-handed shooting center, Hughes was selected in the fourth round (123rd overall) of the 2006 NHL Entry Draft by the Carolina Hurricanes.

"We are not satisfied with the record we have," said Fuel Head Coach and Vice President of Hockey Operations Scott Hillman on Tuesday. "We are competing hard, but not getting the results we need. We will make the necessary changes until we are able to achieve the results we expect and our fans deserve."

Currently in the midst of his eighth pro season, Hughes, 27, has two goals and four points to his credit in eight appearances for the Gladiators so far this season. A native of Richmond Hill, Ontario, Canada, Hughes has 122 career ECHL appearances to his credit spread over parts of five seasons with Gwinnett, the Fort Wayne Komets, Utah Grizzlies and Florida Everblades. In two seasons in the CHL from 2009 to 2011, Hughes scored 18 goals and 50 total points in 60 games played for the Wichita Thunder and in 58 AHL appearances in parts of three seasons from 2006 to 2010 for the Albany River Rats and the Bridgeport Sound Tigers, Hughes scored ten goals and 23 points. Prior to his professional career, Hughes played four seasons of major junior hockey for the OHL's Kingston Frontenacs from 2003 to 2007.

A four-year letter winner at Ferris State University from 2009 to 2013, Ouellette appeared in three games for the Fuel this season, earning two penalty minutes in the process. In 34 combined professional games played in the CHL and ECHL for the Arizona Sundogs, St. Charles Chill and Greenville Road Warriors during the 2013-14 campaign, Ouellette, a 5'9", 165 lb. native of Windsor, Ontario, Canada, tallied 11 combined goals and 27 total points with 22 total penalty minutes.
