June 24, 2009, Evansville, IN - Otters starting pitcher Dustin Renfrow bested Tyler Kelsey in the Otters 1-0 victory over the Windy City Thunderbolts Wednesday night at Bosse Field.

Renfrow tossed 8.1 innings of shutout ball, leaving the game in the ninth inning after Guillermo Martinez reached second base on a two-base error with one out. Renfrow was greeted with a standing ovation from the nearly 1,500 fans as he headed to the dugout. Closer Justin Smith entered the game and induced a groundout and a fly out to end the game, earning his fifth save. Renfrow (2-1) allowed only four hits, walked one and struck out seven while picking up the victory.

The only run of the game came in the first inning. Jeremy Strack singled on Kelsey's first pitch of the game, and was forced out on Eric Blackwell's fielder's choice. Javier Brown then singled, advancing Blackwell to third. Blackwell scored when second baseman Gilberto Mejia bobbled a Greg Alexander ground ball.

Kelsey was superb the rest of the way, even striking out the side in the second on eleven pitches. He was removed after 6.1 innings, having given up only the Blackwell run on four hits. He struck out six and walked two. The loss drops him to 3-3 on the year. The loss is the fourth straight for Windy City, and the win the second in a row for the Otters, evening their home record at 8-8. The three game series continues tomorrow at 7:05pm CDT.
