Erie Otters News Release
The Erie Otters of the Ontario Hockey League return to action tomorrow (Wednesday) night when the Owen Sound Attack visit for a 7 p.m. game at the Tullio Arena presented by Huffman Family Chiropractic.
Tickets for the game are available at the Civic Center Box Office, all Erie-area Ticketmaster locations, on-line at www.ottershockey.com or by calling 814-452-4857.
The Otters and the Attack head into the game tied for seventh in the Western Conference standings and both in need of one victory in their final six games to clinch one of the final two playoff spots in the Western Conference. In addition, both teams enter tomorrow's game four points behind the Sarnia Sting for sixth in the Conference standings and seven points behind the fifth place Guelph Storm.
The Otters take to the ice tomorrow with a 30-28-3-1 record but winless in their last three (0-2-1-0), including a 6-3 loss to the Plymouth Whalers on home ice on Sunday. Zack Torquato paced the Otters with two goals and an assist in the game. The Otters captain now has a team-high 27 goals on the season, just three shy of matching his career high of 30 scored in 2006-07. In addition, one of Torquato's two goals on Sunday was shorthanded, his second of the season and 10th as a member of the Otters to move him into a tie with Shane Nash (1996-2000) for third on the Otters all-time shorthanded goals list.
Owen Sound visits the Tullio Arena in the midst of a four-game winning streak, including a 6-4 home victory over the Whalers on Monday. The hot streak has moved the Attack to 25-23-7-7 on the season. Joey Hishon paced the Attack in their win over Plymouth on Monday with three assists. The second-year forward leads Owen Sound (and is rated 10th in the OHL) in scoring with 34 goals and 44 assists for 78 points in 61 games. His 78 points are 26 more than his nearest teammate.
Tomorrow's game marks the sixth and final between the two teams this season. The Attack own a 3-1-1-0 advantage in the series, which includes a 6-3 win over the Otters in their last meeting on January 10th in Owen Sound.
