Evansville Otters News Release

Evansville, IN - On Thursday the Otters traded all-star second baseman Javier Brown to the Rockford Riverhawks for two players to be named later. Brown, batting .294 on the year, was one of two Otters to be named to the Frontier League All-Star team along with catcher Frank Meade.

The Otters will receive the two players from Rockford at the conclusion of the Riverhawk's season.

"There had been a lot of interest from a number of teams," said Otters' manager Wayne Krenchicki. "Javier Brown had been mentioned as much as six weeks ago. It just got to the point where we were not receiving equal value or better than equal value until what we came up with with Rockford.

"[With] the two players we're going to acquire at the end of the season, I feel it's a great trade for us."

Marcus Rose, signed July 29th, will take over as the everyday second baseman. Rose batted .322 with five home runs this past season for Furman.
