O'FALLON, MO - The Rascals fell behind early and the Bolts blasted three home runs en route to a 6-2 victory Sunday night at T.R. Hughes Ballpark. Windy City took two of three from River City and finished the season 7-5 against the Rascals.

The ThunderBolts (42-30) rebounded with back to back wins after surrendering 18 runs in game one of the series. Kraig Binick started the scoring with a single in the first, scoring Gilberto Mejia to put the Bolts up 1-0. Wilson Matos struck with his sixth home run in the second, a solo shot for a 2-0 advantage.

The Rascals (39-32) would answer with a run in the fifth to cut the deficit to 2-1, the closest River City would get. Bryan Resnick and Scott Houin singled with one out and JoJo Batten lifted a sacrifice fly to put the Rascals on the board against Ricky Meinhold (2-0).

Meinhold exited the game after six plus innings, allowing two runs on five hits with four strikeouts. The southpaw threw one pitch in the sixth, which Danny Sawyer belted over the left field fence for his seventh home run and cut the lead to 5-2.

Windy City added two in the seventh off Daniel Howard (4-5). Matos singled with one out and scored on Vinnie Scarduzio's two run long ball, his second home run of the series.

Howard completed the seventh and was tagged with his fifth loss, allowing five runs on nine hits with four strikeouts.

The loss dropped the Rascals into a second place tie with Southern Illinois, who downed Rockford 5-4. Both teams sit 2.5 games back of Windy City with 25 games to play.

Houin finished the game 2-4 with two singles while Scott Robinson had a single in three at-bats, his final game with the team. Robinson will leave the Rascals with 13 home runs and 57 RBI, both team highs as the first baseman continues his education.

The Rascals are off tomorrow before embarking on a six game road trip to Kalamazoo and Traverse City, the first time River City will see both teams in 2009. Game time Tuesday night is scheduled for 6:05 p.m.
