July 3, 2008, Evansville, Ind. - Southern Illinois finished off their sweep of the Evansville Otters with a 10-0 win. The Miners scored early and often including a four run third and a three run fifth. The Otters pitching staff struck out a season high 14 hitters, but also allowed ten hits and seven walks. Brett Scarpetta (2-2) pitched six scoreless innings and allowed only four hits to get the win. In his Otters debut, Luke Hetherington, went 2-5 to lead the Evansville attack. Evansville heads back to the field on Friday as they open a new series with the Rockford Riverhawks at 3:05. The Evansville native Adam Rogers will get the Independence Day start against left-hander Taylor Sinclair for Rockford.
