Evansville Otters News Release
Rickey Clinton had a two-out, RBI single in the eighth inning to lift the Evansville Otters to a 3-2 win over the Ohio Valley Redcoats.
The Redcoats got the first two runs of the game on solo homers by Jud Richards in the fourth and sixth innings.
Tom Cochran had shut the Otters down through the first seven innings, allowing just four hits. In the eighth, with one out, Beau Blacken doubled. That was followed by a Mike Spry double, moving Blacken to third. Trask Munoz grounded to second on a 3-2 pitch. Spry was running on the play, negating the possibility for a double play. While Munoz was tossed out at first, Spry took second and Blacken scored to make it 2-1.
Brian McKenna was the next batter at the plate. With a 1-1 count on him, McKenna grounded a ball to Travis Garcia. The third baseman threw the ball past Richards at first base, allowing Spry to score and moving McKenna to second. On the very next pitch, Clinton lined a fastball to center, scoring McKenna and giving Evansville the lead.
Dustin Bolton (2-0) picked up the win in relief for Evansville throwing 2.2 scoreless innings. Ryan Burnau pitched the ninth for his seventh save.
The Otters will play one more against the Redcoats on Sunday with Chris Pillsbury (4-7) going for the Otters against Dan Bonilla (0-0) for the Redcoats. Game time is set for 6:05 p.m. It is also Fellowship Night with festivities starting at 4:30. There will be contemporary Christian music concert and a message from Otters' team Chaplain Tyrone Edwards.
