Washington Wild Things News Release
The Washington Wild Things (48-26), presented by Washington Federal Savings Bank, defeated the Richmond Roosters 7-4 at Falconi Field Friday night in front of another sellout crowd of 3,513.
Washington posted two runs in the first, one in the fourth, and then four in the fifth to give Brian Burks (10-2) more than enough cushion to earn the victory.
Burks was perfect through 4 1/3 innings and finished his evening after allowing just three runs on eight hits in seven innings of work. Stephen Spragg and Jim Popp combined to keep the Roosters at bay in the final two frames.
Richmond's Tony Casoli fell to 7-3 on the season as he gave up seven runs (five earned) in five innings. Six Wild Things banged out hits, and Ryan McGraw and Andy Hudak led the charge with two hits apiece. David Reaver also hit a two-run homer Washington.
The Wild Things go for the series sweep Sunday night. Game time is 6:05 p.m.
