Florence, Kentucky: 2,143 fans strolled into Champion Window Field to see Game one of the crucial series between the Chillicothe Paints, and the hometown Florence Freedom. The Freedom failed to extend their lead for the final playoff spot, falling to the Paints, 9-3.

All three Freedom runs came in the second inning, when Darrin Kinsolving hit a solo shot to opposite right field, his eighth. Next up, Kyle Geswein hit an opposite field jack, his 20th of the season, and later in the inning, Josh Sanchez flied out to score . The Freedom bats were quited for the rest of the night by Paint pitching, while the Paints offense pounded out 16 hits, scoring nine runs. Mark Harris (5-2) picked up the loss.

Back to school weekend continues tonight at 7:05 at Champion Window Field, former Major Leaguer Corey Thurman gets the start for the Freedom.
