
Otters rally, but come up short

Evansville Otters News Release
The Evansville Otters scored run in the ninth, but left the tying run on second base as the Washington Wild Things defeated the Otter 5-4.
Washington got on the board first in the fourth inning on a bloop double by Randy McGarvey. The Otters tied it in the top of the fifth on a two out double by Denver Stuckey to score Brian McKenna.
Washington came back with two more in the bottom of the fifth. The Otters countered with two in the sixth to tie the game at 3-3.
The Wild Things took a 5-3 lead in the eighth. Chris Carter led off with a triple. Mike Arbinger dropped a Texas Leaguer over a drawn in infield, scoring Carter to make it 4-3 Washington. Arbinger would later score on a two out single by T. J. Graves.
The Otters forged a two out comeback in the ninth. Brian McKenna and Jason Mann hit back-to-back doubles, but with Mann on second, Denver Stuckey popped out to second, ending the ballgame.
Ben Foster (8-5) took the loss for Evansville with Jim Popp (4-4) winning it in relief for Washington.
Game two of the season is tomorrow with Andre Simpson (5-5) will start for Evansville, Brian Burks (10-3) will go for Washington. Game time is 6:05 p.m. CST and can be heard on 91.5, WUEV.
