Evansville Otters News Release
Evansville, Ind. - Great pitching and defense led the way to a 2-1 Evansville win over Gateway. On the mound Evansville native, Adam Rogers, had his third straight great start as he allowed only one run on four hits in his seven innings of work. The bullpen came in to shut the door, tossing two innings of scoreless relief. They were aided by great defense behind them including one big play in the eighth inning by third baseman Alex Fonseca. Fonseca was playing in his first game since a broken orbital bone placed him on the IR on May 27.
On the offensive end the Otters took a first inning lead on a Luke Heatherington home run. A sixth inning fielding error, with runners at the corners and two outs, brought in what would end up being the deciding run.
The Otters will go for the series win on Sunday evening at 6:05 CDT with former Purple Ace Kai Tuomi taking the mound in his debut for the Otters.
