Evansville Otters News Release
(FLORENCE, Kentucky) - The Evansville Otters brought the power in a 10-3 victory against the Florence Freedom and then a threatening rainstorm knocked the power out in an eight inning victory.
The game was halted following a light power outage at 9:21 p.m. EST that zapped the lights off around the ballpark.
The umpires met with the managers for a few minutes before the game was officially called for an Evansville Otters win.
Evansville started with some small ball in the third inning and turned a few bunts into a four- run rally. All-Star infielder Joe Spiers collected a two-run single and outfielder Jamar Walton added an RBI single as well.
After Florence scored a run in the bottom half, Evansville surged for another pair of runs in the fourth. Outfielder Troy Frazier hit an RBI double to right field and Joe Spiers tacked on another run batted in on his sacrifice fly.
Florence never led in the game as outfielder Greg Alexander hit a solo home run, Troy Frazier scored two more on a single and catcher Phil Britton concluded the scoring in the 8th with an RBI single.
The Evansville Otters have now won back to back games and improve to 17-36 this season. The Florence Freedom fall to 24-28 this year.
Utilityman Jared Jordan threw three innings for Evansville in a spot start, allowing just one run. The win goes to righty Joey Satriano, who gave up one run in two innings. It is his first professional victory. Lefty Zeb Engle (1-1) takes the loss after yielding seven runs (four earned) in six innings.
Evansville will look for their first sweep of the season on Wednesday night at the home of the Florence Freedom. First pitch is scheduled for 7:05 p.m. EST with righty Scott Kelley (3-4, 4.99 Earned Run Average) throwing for the Otters and lefty Anthony Bello (2-3, 3.99 ERA) on the hill for the Freedom.
