Florence Y'alls News Release

The Otters took the series from the Freedom by winning game two 10-3 in a game that was shortened to seven and one third innings by a power failure. The game was cancelled after a lightning strike cut out six of the eight light poles in Florence.

Freedom starter Zeb Engle, making his first start of the season, retired the first six Evansville batters he faced, including striking out the side in the second. However, the Otters bats came to life in the third inning as Troy Frazier led off with a single. Billy Killian dropped down a sac bunt and Engle threw wildly trying to get the lead runner at second for an error. Greg Fontenot then hit a bunt single to load the bases and Joe Spiers hit a two-run single. Another run scored on an error by shortstop Junior Arrojo and Jamar Walton capped the inning with an RBI single to give the Otters a 4-0 lead.

Chris Curely hit an RBI single in the bottom of the inning to cut the Freedom's deficit to 4-1. It was his 45th RBI of the season.

The Otters came back for more in the fourth as Steve Caseres and Troy Frazier led off with back-to-back doubles. Joe Spiers hit a sac fly to extend the lead to 6-1. Jonathan Cisneros hit an RBI single for the Freedom in the bottom of the frame to pull the Freedom within 6-2.

Greg Alexander led off the fifth with a solo homer to push Evansville's lead back to five runs at 7-2.

Matt Carr gave up two runs in the seventh and one more in the eighth for a 10-3 Evansville lead. After the Otters scored a run in the eighth, lightning struck and a power outage ensued to end the game after seven and one third innings.

Quick Notes: Freedom All-Star centerfielder Cole Miles was placed on the 7-day DL before the game...starting pitchers, LHP Chris Ingoglia and RHP Tim Holmes were placed on the 14-day DL...it was the second time this season the lights have caused a delay/cancellation this season.
