Otters-Grizzlies washed away in the 4th inning

(SAUGET, Ill.)- The Evansville Otters led the Gateway Grizzlies 2-1 in the top of the 4th inning when the Friday night contest became suspended.
The game started under a 29 minute rain delay as a strong stream of rain inundated the field about an hour before the game.
Once the game started, the Otters and Grizzlies were forced to sit in the stands as their dugouts were flooded.
In the first, Greg Alexander hit a two run home run for a 2-0 lead and Gateway rallied back with an RBI single in the bottom of the second inning. That is when the heavy rain started to fall as Mother Nature didn't let up the rest of the night.
No date has been announced for the completion of the suspended game.
The Evansville Otters continue the team's season high nine game road trip tomorrow when the club opens a threee game series against the Southern Illinois Miners. First pitch is scheduled for 7:05 PM CDT at Rent One Park. Brett Scarpetta (5-2, 4.13 ERA) will start for the Miners as Chad Edwards (0-4, 5.62) will pitch for the Otters.
Fans can listen to the radio broadcast of the game on WUEV 91.5 FM. The game can also be heard online by going to http://www.evansvilleotters.com . Mike Radomski will have the play by play with the Evansville Otters pregame show beginning at 6:45 PM.
