Game Notes:
67's Welcome Back Ceci and Toffoli
67's fans may be a little bittersweet about it but Toffoli and Ceci are back in the lineup this Friday night. The two standouts were among the final cuts for the Canadian World Junior team which will play in Calgary and Edmonton in the coming weeks. Orleans native Ceci, who turns 18 on Dec. 23rd, will get another shot at the Canadian team next year. Prince, Cjakovsky and Mrazek on the World Stage
While Toffoli and Ceci did not make the final cuts for Canada, the 67's will likely have representation on the world stage with Shane Prince at the American camp, Petr Mrazek likely to start in net for the Czech Republic and Michal Cjakovsky patrolling the blueline for Slovakia. Mrazek will be in the Ottawa lineup against Brampton this week but Prince and Cajkovsky will have left for their respective camps.
If they end up making their respective teams and you want to see Shane Prince face off against Petr Mrazek circle this date on your calendar:
Friday, December 30th - USA vs. Czech Republic @ 3:30 pm. Still lots of time to make it from your couch to the arena to see us play the Pete's that same night.
Battalion's Phil Lane Named OHL Player of the Week
Lane led the Battalion to three straight wins beginning with a career-high four-assist game on the road Friday night as part of a 7-4 win over the Kingston Frontenacs where he was named first star of the game. He also added two assists on Saturday in a 4-1 win over the Barrie Colts before scoring his third shorthanded goal of the season on Sunday in a 5-2 win over the visiting Frontenacs.
Lane, a 19-year-old from Rochester, New York, is playing in his third OHL season with the Battalion. The second round choice of the Phoenix Coyotes in the 2010 NHL Entry Draft leads his club in scoring with 10 goals and 16 assists for 26 points in 32 games.
