
Three Bulls to Suit up in Home Hardware Top Prospects Game

TORONTO, ON- The Canadian Hockey League announced Thursday that 40 NHL Entry Draft eligible CHL players will be taking part in the 2012 CHL Top Prospects Game on February 1st, 2012 in Kelowna, BC. Three of the 40 attending this season will be Belleville Bulls asBrendan Gaunce,Malcolm Subban andDaniil Zharkov are all on the NHL's hot list.
30 of the CHL's 59 member clubs are represented in this game, as the Bulls top the list with three representatives while eight other teams will be sending two players.
Gaunce, a 17 year-old centreman from Markham ranked seventh among OHL skaters in the NHL Central Scouting Bureau's Preliminary Rankings released on November 17th. The second overall selection in the 2010 OHL Priority Selection has 19 goals and 17 assists in 32 games this season while registering a plus-12 rating. Gaunce was also named the OHL's Player of the Week from November 20-27th when he scored 5 goals and added an assist in 3 games.
Joining Gaunce in Kelowna will be winger and fellow linemateDaniil Zharkov who is off to a terrific start in his Canadian junior hockey career. The CHL's 13th overall selection in the 2011 Import Draft has 13 goals in 15 games this season, including five multi-goal efforts. Standing at 6'3" and tipping the scales at 200Ibs., Zharkov has overcome adversity early on in his OHL tenure as he suffered a broken collarbone in training camp, only to return and score a pair of goals in his first game.
Two-time CHL Goaltender of the Week and Canada's Goaltender of the Month in NovemberMalcolm Subban will also attend the Top Prospects Game. Subban, who was originally an 11th round selection of the Bulls back in 2009, has come along nicely in his development as an OHL goaltender. His 1.98 goals-against average and .936 save percentage through 18 games lead the OHL in those departments while he has put together a record of 12-6-0-0. Subban was ranked as the OHL's top draft eligible goaltender in the NHL Central Scouting Bureau's Preliminary Rankings.
The three Bulls will lace up the skates on February 1st at Prospera Place against the best draft eligible junior hockey players in the nation.
