MISSOULA, Mont. -- The Billings Mustangs (21-9, 36-32) had their lead in the Pioneer League North Division cut to four games on Thursday as the Missoula Osprey (17-13, 37-31) won 3-2 in 10 innings in front of 2,245 at Ogren Park Allegiance Field.

The Mustangs held an early 2-0 lead, scoring in both the first and third innings. Quin Cotton led off the game with a single that began a run of three straight reaches to open the night. With the bases loaded and nobody out, Victor Ruiz flew a sacrifice to center to allow Cotton to score.

Later in the third, Eric Yang lined an RBI single to left that brought in TJ Hopkins from second to extend the Mustangs' advantage to 2-0.

The Osprey popped solo home runs in the third and fourth to tie the game at 2-2. Jose Reyes hit a solo shot in the third and Francis Martinez led off the fourth with his 11th home run of the season.

Omar Conoropo and Johnnie Schneider then combined for five innings of shutout relief for Billings. Conoropo threw three perfect innings while Schneider did not allow a hit in his two frames.

The game went tied to the 10th inning, the ninth extra-inning game of the year for Billings. After the Mustangs were struck out in order in the top of the 10th, Missoula needed just one batter to score their designated runner in the bottom of the inning. Jose Curpa singled through the left side of the infield to score Cesar Garcia and give the Osprey the win.

The Mustangs' lead in the North Division is four games with eight games left to play, including four remaining at Dehler Park against Missoula.

The Mustangs now head to Great Falls to take on the Voyagers in a four-game series. First pitch on Friday in game one is set for 7 p.m. MDT at Centene Stadium.
