Osprey 9th Inning Rally Falls Short; Stay Tied for 1st

MISSOULA, MT - Despite loading the bases in the final frame, Missoula dropped the potential sweep in Saturday night's contest, falling to Orem 3-2. Osprey 1B Francis Martinez homered for the second time in the last three nights, leading the Osprey with 2 for 3 night, scoring two. Osprey left fielder Cesar Garcia finished 2-4 on the night, scoring once.

With eleven remaining games before the first half concludes, Missoula still stays tied for the top spot in the North, with Ogden sweeping Idaho Falls. The Osprey will welcome the Raptors to Orem Park at Allegiance Field, with game one of four starting on Sunday.

In his professional debut, Osprey right-hander Bobby Ay gave up no runs on no hits in one inning of work. Osprey right-hander would take over from the 2nd through the 4th inning, not allowing a run with three hits, striking out three. RHP Nick Marchese took the loss, allowing Orem to break a scoreless ball game in the top of the 5th.

Although dropping the sweep against Orem, Missoula took the series, three games to one. The Osprey gained valuable ground in the push for the first-half North title, currently tied with Idaho Falls for first.

A four-game series begins Sunday against the league's best in the Ogden Raptors, with first pitch scheduled at 5:05 pm. Sunday is Osprey Kid's Club Membership Day, with gates opening at 4:00.
