Osman's Natural Hat Trick Leads Florida to Fifth Straight Win

ESTERO, FL -- Florida's Dominic Osman shined Friday night, taking home a hat trick that helped lead Florida to a 7-5 victory over the Gwinnett Gladiators. Osman converted two of his three goals on the power play. Tonight's contest marks Florida's fifth-straight win.

The Gwinnett Gladiators capitalized on a power play five minutes into the first period when a puck off the stick of forward Tim Miller dribbled past Florida goaltender Chris Beckford-Tseu. Defenseman Sam Roberts recorded the assist. At 9:59, Florida's Ryan Lang blasted a controversial shot past Gwinnett goaltender David Brown. After a short discussion by the referees, the Everblades were credited the goal to tie the contest 1-1. Lang's 15th goal of the season was assisted by rookie Shea Guthrie. Gwinnett responded with 7:48 remaining in the first with a short-handed goal by captain Adam Berti. The assists went to left wing Tom Zanoski and defenseman Phil Youngclaus. The first period ended as the Gladiators outscored Florida 2-1.

In the second period, Florida forward Brady Calla recorded his first point in a 'Blades sweater at 4:54. Chris Capraro was credited his 21st assist of the season on Calla's tally, leveling the contest 2-2. Before Gwinnett could respond, Everblade rookie Phil Paquet blasted the puck from the point recording a goal at 8:41. Paquet's second goal of the season, assisted by fellow rookie Brandon Buck, gave Florida a one-goal advantage, 3-2. The Everblades lost the lead when Gladiator left wing Mike McLean slipped past Beckford-Tseu at 13:40. McLean's 14th goal of the season was assisted by Roberts and left winger Tom Zanoski. With 40 seconds remaining in the second period, Florida right winger Dominic Osman pushed the puck past Gwinnett goalie David Brown. Osman's 16th goal was assisted by forward Kevin Baker and defenseman Elgin Reid. Florida skated into the third period leading Gwinnett 4-3.

Florida nabbed a two-goal advantage early in the third as Osman scored his second goal of the game at 2:42. Osman's power-play goal was assisted by Buck and defenseman Matt Duffy. Gwinnett forward Scott Mitsud closed the gap at 7:23 when a puck rebounded off the pads of Florida goaltender Beckford-Tseu and bounced past the crease. The power-play goal was assisted by Berti and defenseman Drew Paris. At 10:21, Everblade Dominic Osman took advantage of Florida's power play and scored his third straight goal, earning a hat trick. Osman sealed the hat trick, second on a power play, with assists to Duffy and Buck. Florida stayed productive on the power play, when forward Kevin Baker scored with a five-on-three advantage at 16:51. Baker's 13th goal was assisted by rookie defenseman Scott Hotham and Elgin Reid. Gwinnett's Zanoski notched an unassisted goal with 14 seconds remaining in regulation. The final tally ended the contest with Florida equaling their season-high scoring, overcoming Gwinnett 7-5.

The Florida Everblades and Gwinnett Gladiators round up the third and final game of the week tomorrow night at Germain Arena. The puck drops at 7:30 as the 'Blades skate in Boston Red Sox themed jerseys which will be auctioned off at the conclusion of the game.
