5 Things to Know About #ORLvFCD

Defensive Effort

The month of July proved to be an important one for FC Dallas on the defensive end. Led by the efforts of Jesse Gonzalez, who made 11 saves in July and leads MLS in passing accuracy by a starting keeper (78%), FC Dallas earned clean sheets in three of the four games played in the month. Dallas shutout D.C. United at home and Sporting Kansas City away both by 2-0 scorelines. It drew 0-0 with Real Salt Lake and only conceded one goal in the entire month in a 1-0 loss to Minnesota United.

All-Stars and Homegrowns

Dallas was without six first-team players in training this week as Matt Hedges, Paxton Pomykal, Edwin Cerrillo, Bryan Reynolds, Thomas Roberts and Brandon Servania traveled to Orlando ahead of the rest of the team to take part in the MLS All-Star and Homegrown games. Hedges and Pomykal combined for 62 minutes in the All-Stars' 3-0 loss to Atlético Madrid and the latter four players featured in the MLS Homegrown's victory over the Chivas U-20s in penalties.

Half Century Mark

Defenders Reggie Cannon and Reto Ziegler both made their 50th MLS starts for FC Dallas in last Saturday's match against Real Salt Lake. The pair marked the occasion by earning the club's sixth clean sheet of the season by battling to a scoreless draw with RSL at Toyota Stadium.

About Orlando City

Orlando City enters Saturday's games with just one win in its last six matches. Six of Orlando's 11 defeats this season have come at home in Exploria Stadium, giving Dallas a good opportunity to earn a fourth away win of 2019. However, FCD's defense will have to limit Nani's influence on the game as the Portuguese DP has contributed eight goals and eight assists already this season.

Against Orlando City

Orlando City is a relatively unfamiliar opponent for Dallas, having only faced them four times in its history. However, FCD has enjoyed its few outings against the Floridians, posting an all-time record of 3-0-1. Further, FC Dallas is the only MLS team that Orlando has never scored against with its solitary draw ending 0-0 at Exploria Stadium in 2017.
