
Orlando City Trades Amobi Okugo for Servando Carrasco

ORLANDO - July 20, 2015 - Orlando City SCÂ has traded Amobi Okugo to Sporting Kansas City for midfielder Servando Carrasco the Club announced today. Per team and league rules, additional details were not disclosed.
"First of all we want to thank Amobi for his contributions to the club in our inaugural MLS season and wish him nothing but the best in his career," said General Manager Paul McDonough. "This trade is a win for all involved. We acquire a proven midfielder while creating some salary cap flexibility for future strategic player moves."
After signing with the Lions in the offseason from the Philadelphia Union, Okugo appeared in 15 games for City this season. With the emergence of Cristian Higuita and Darwin Cerén, Okugo struggled to play regularly at the defensive midfielder role in Adrian Heath's system, logging 812 minutes.
Carrasco, the husband of U.S. Women's National Team star Alex Morgan, joins Orlando City with over 60 league games under his belt, featuring for the Seattle Sounders, Houston Dynamo and Sporting Kansas City most recently. Carrasco made six starts in nine appearances with Sporting this season.
Carrasco began his professional career in 2011 with the Seattle Sounders after a stellar four-year stint at the University of California-Berkley, earning honors such as first team All-Pac 10, NSCAA third team Far West Region and Third Team Pac-10 All-America.
