The Week That Was...
The Ontario Reign opened a four-game homestand last weekend, hosting the Bakersfield Condors and San Jose Barracuda at Citizens Business Bank Arena for a week record of 2-0-0-0 and an overall record of 15-4-2-0 to maintain the top spot of the Pacific Division and Western Conference.
On Saturday, forward Valentin Zykov (one goal, one assist) and Adrian Kempe (two assists) recorded two-point games and forwards Kris Newbury and Jonny Brodzinski contributed goals as the Reign grabbed their third victory over the Condors this season with a 3-1 decision.
The following afternoon, the Reign trailed 1-0 late in the third period when forward Justin Auger deflected a shot from Sean Backman with 1:09 left to force overtime and defenseman Kevin Gravel buried the game-winning marker 1:16 into the extra session to send the Reign's winning streak to four contests.
