McCarron, Pasquale Star in IceCaps Win
December 16, 2015 - American Hockey League (AHL)
St. John's IceCaps News Release
ST. JOHN'S, NL - Michael McCarron had a hat trick and Eddie Pasquale turned aside 45 shots as the St. John's IceCaps crushed the Albany Devils 5-1 Wednesday at Mile One Centre.
McCarron opened the scoring 30 seconds into the game and added his third marker of the night in the final frame on a beautiful setup from Michael Bournival. The three-goal performance marks the second hat trick for the rookie pivot this season, with both coming on home ice.
Pasquale, meanwhile, was rock solid between the pipes. A night after a 44-save effort from Zach Fucale, Pasquale stopped 45-of-46 shots, including all 21 in the third period for his fourth win in his last five starts.
Morgan Ellis had a pair of helpers while Lucas Lessio, making his IceCaps debut a day after being acquired from the Arizona Coyotes in exchange for Christian Thomas, notched an assist on the game's opening goal. Lessio finished +1 with three shots on goal playing on the top line with McCarron and Bud Holloway.
The IceCaps will enjoy a 10-day holiday break before resuming play on Boxing Day at the Air Canada Centre in the first of two matinees vs. the Toronto Marlies (4:30 PMP NT). Catch all the action with Brian Rogers at www.stjohnsicecaps.com, 930AM and AHL Live.
Tickets for the IceCaps' next home stand, beginning January 8-9 vs. the Portland Pirates, are available at the Mile One box office and online at www.mileonecentre.com.
