Binghamton Senators News Release
BINGHAMTON, N.Y. - The Binghamton Senators notched two goals in the waning minutes of regulation, but it wasn't enough as they fell 3-2 to the visiting Toronto Marlies.
Toronto opened the scoring in a fast paced first period when Josh Leivo notched his eighth goal of the year with just over three minutes to play. William Nylander earned the lone assist adding to his league-leading point total which now sits at 34. Matt O'Connor stopped eight of nine shots faced while Antoine Bibeau was perfect on all five Binghamton shots.
Toronto added a pair of goals in the middle frame to increase their lead to 3-0. Mark Arcobello notched his tenth tally of the year 8:55 into the period before Zach Hyman put home a rebounded puck with 3:05 to play in the second. Toronto outshot their hosts 12-7 to carry their lead into the game's final intermission.
The B-Sens made it interesting as they tallied a pair of goals just over a minute apart to push the score to 3-2 with 12 seconds remaining in regulation. Max McCormick managed to tip home a shot by Michael Kostka from the point before Cole Schneider redirected another Kostka shot past Bibeau to make it a one-goal contest.
Bibeau finished with 20 saves on 22 shots while O'Connor stopped 29 of 32 Marlies' chances in the losing effort.
