One Grand Swing Stops Surf

ATLANTIC CITY- One swing of the bat provided all the runs needed for the New Jersey Jackals to come away with a win over the Atlantic City Surf in front of 6,577 at Bernie Robbins Stadium, Tuesday. Tonight's crowd was the largest of the year for the Surf.

The Surf struck first in the second inning when Joe Burke singled to center field plating Ed Montague and advancing Rico Santana to second. Chris Crescenzi struck out allowing Rico Santana to steal home for the Surf's second and last run of the game.

New Jersey's Matt Lauderdale hit a grand slam in the top of the fourth. Lauderdale went one-for-four on the night. Sandy Madera went three-for-five with a run scored.

Josh Brey went five and a third innings allowing two runs on five hits striking out three and waking three. Improving his record to four-and-three. Rusty Tucker came in for his league leading twelfth save striking out one while not allowing any runs or hits. Surf starting pitcher J.C. Huguet pitched five innings giving up seven hits, four runs, striking out six and walking one batter.

The finale of the three game series between the Surf and the Jackals will be held on July 4, 2007 with firework sponsored by the Borgata.
