LAST GAME: Oklahoma earned its third shutout of the season with a 6-0 win over Nashville at Greer Stadium. Spot starter Steve Rowe pitched six solid innings, allowing four hits and walking three while striking out three as well. Kaz Fukumori and Brian Gordon pitched the final three innings of shutout ball. Travis Metcalf drove in half of the RedHawks runs and finished with three hits, while Chris Davis drove in a pair and Nelson Cruz brought home one. Rowe notched his second win over the Sounds in the last six days.
SHUTOUT SIMILARITIES: Tuesday's game marked the third combined shutout this season by the RedHawks pitching staff. All three have come on the road and all three have been a 6-0 final score. Dustin Nippert combined with Steve Rowe and Kaz Fukumori on May 2 in Tacoma for the first shutout of the season, while Robinson Tejeda, Wes Littleton, Bill White, and Kea Kometani worked together to shutout Iowa on May 24.
LUCKY 13: With a seventh inning single last night, Chris Davis extended his hitting streak to 13 games, the second longest RedHawk hitting streak this season behind Taylor Teagarden's 15-game run in May. Davis has also reached base in 21 straight games dating back to game May 28. The 13-game streak is the longest active run in the Pacific Coast League.
MAYBERRY MOVES ON: John Mayberry singled in the second inning last night to extend his hitting streak to nine games. It matches Mayberry's longest hitting streak this season. The outfielder hit safely in nine straight for Frisco from April 14 through April 25.
BATTLING BRAY: Steve Bray will make his first start of the season today after 23 appearances from the bullpen for Nashville this season. It is just the sixth start in his career. Bray made three starts last year for the Sounds, including one against Oklahoma on August 25 in game two of a doubleheader. The right-hander allowed two runs on four hits with one walk and five strikeouts and left with a no decision in a 3-2 Nashville win.
NASHVILLE AT A GLANCE: David Riske will start again tomorrow before giving way to Richie Gardner... The Sounds have been outscored 47-25 this season by the RedHawks... Despite having his 24-game hitting streak snapped on Monday, Vinny Rottino still had an on-base streak going thanks to a walk in the nightcap at Iowa when his hitting string was broken. Rottino went 0-4 last night and saw the on-base streak stopped at 26 games, matching four other players for the second longest on-base streak in the PCL this season... Nashville has a league-low nine home runs this month.
AROUND THE ORGANIZATION: Texas beat Atlanta 7-5... Frisco fell 6-5 at Midland... Bakersfield lost to Inland Empire 14-8... Clinton had the night off for the Midwest League All-Star game... Spokane opened its season with a 15-3 win against Everett.
DOT-DOT-DOT: Nelson Cruz returned to the lineup last night after missing three straight games with a slight triceps strain. Cruz extended his hitting streak to eight games, and has his on-base streak to 18 games dating back to May 28... Steve Rowe is now 2-1 in six spot starts for Oklahoma, which has won three of those six games... Oklahoma is 7-3 in its last ten games, the first time the club has entered play winning seven of ten since April 28.
TIME CHANGE: The RedHawks have announced a time change that differs from what is listed on pocket schedules and previously printed tickets. Oklahoma's game with Round Rock on Monday, June 23 at AT&T Bricktown Ballpark is now a 7:05 pm first pitch.
ON THE AIR: Every game this season can be heard on the RedHawks Radio Network, led by broadcaster Jim Byers for the ninth season, and joined by Adam Marco during each homestand.
