Game 49 | May 24, 2008 | Principal Park | Des Moines, IA
Radio: Fox Sports Radio AM 1340, RedHawks Radio Network | Play-by-Play: Jim Byers TODAY'S MATCHUP
RH Robinson Tejeda (0-1, 2.67) vs. RH Kevin Hart (1-0, 2.87)
Tejeda-
Allowed 2 R on 3 H with 11 K and 1 BB in 5/17 ND @ MEM (4-3 OKL win in 10) Hart-
Allowed 3 R on 5 H with 6 K and 2 BB over 5.0 IP in 5/19 win @ OMA (5-4 IWA) LAST GAME: A.J. Murray and Randy Keisler matched zeros on the scoreboard over seven innings, but it was Iowa besting Oklahoma 1-0 thanks to a run-scoring single by Matt Murton in the home half of the eighth inning. The RedHawks managed just three hits off Keisler before Neal Cotts pitched a perfect ninth for the save.
SCORELESS STREAK: The RedHawks offense has been shut down and out over the last two road games. Oklahoma lost the last game of the Memphis trip 1-0, the first time they were shut out all season, and, after last night's 1-0 loss at Iowa, have not scored in 18 consecutive innings away from home. The last run the RedHawks scored away from AT&T Bricktown Ballpark came last Saturday in the 10th inning when Jason Botts scored on a John Mayberry single in Oklahoma's 4-3 win.
1.80: RedHawks starters have allowed eight earned runs over the last six games spanning 40 innings for an earned run average of 1.80 dating back to Robinson Tejeda's last start on May 17 at Memphis. The bullpen's ERA during that time span is 2.70 with three earned runs allowed over the last ten innings. Oklahoma has outscored the opposition 30-12 over the last six games.
TWICE OVER SECOND BEST: The RedHawks pitching staff has walked the second fewest batters this season, trailing Round Rock by two (134-132), while the Oklahoma offense has walked the second most in the league this season, 16 free passes behind Portland (219-203).
AROUND THE ORGANIZATION: Texas beat Cleveland 11-9. Kameron Loe picked the win in his first appearance since being recalled from Oklahoma... Frisco pounded Tulsa 12-2... Bakersfield lost at home 5-1 to Visalia... Clinton scored twice in the ninth to beat Cedar Rapids 3-1.
Iowa AT A GLANCE: I-Cubs starter Kevin Hart began the season as a reliever with Chicago, appearing in ten games, going 2-1 with a 5.06 ERA over 16 innings, but was optioned to Iowa on May 2... Matt Murton was not with the I-Cubs when the RedHawks last played in Des Moines. Murton, who drove in last evening's winning run, was playing for Chicago while Oklahoma was in town April 19 through 22 after replacing Alfonso Soriano on the Major League roster when Soriano went on the disabled list... Randy Keisler has now thrown 12 consecutive scoreless innings against the RedHawks, including the final four of his start on April 21 and eight last night.
DOT-DOT-DOT: Jason Ellison had his eight-game hitting streak broken last night with an 0-3 night... Taylor Teagarden is riding a 13-game hitting streak entering his next game, currently the longest such streak in the PCL... A.J. Murray pitched his second complete game of the season last night and leads the league in that statistical category. Murray's first complete game fell on April 9 in a six-inning, rain-shortened contest... Oklahoma is averaging 4.85 runs per game on the road this season, while putting up 6.11 runs per game on average at AT&T Bricktown Ballpark.
TIME CHANGE: Oklahoma's game on June 1 with Omaha is now slated for a 2:05 pm first pitch.
ON THE AIR: Every game this season can be heard on the RedHawks Radio Network, led by broadcaster Jim Byers for the ninth season, and joined by Adam Marco during each homestand.
