Sidewinders Lose Fifth Straight

Tucson, AZ - The Tucson Sidewinders lost their fifth straight game in a 6-2 defeat at the hands of the Sacramento RiverCats.

The RiverCats did most of their damage in the third inning for the second straight game, rallying for four off of Sidewinders starter Evan MacLane. Sacramento scored 11 runs in the third inning in Friday's contest.

Tucson's only runs of the game came of a two run homer by third baseman Jamie D'Antona in the 6th inning to cut the lead to 4-2.

Sacramento added two more in the ninth inning to put the game out of reach.

Sacramento righthander Brad Knox (4-1) earned the win by allowing just the 2-run homer in 7 innings of work. MacLane took the loss for Tucson. Jerry Blevins picked up his sixth save with two scoreless innings.

Chad Tracy had three hits for the second game while on his Major League rehabilitation assignment.

Tucson and Sacramento will square off for game two of the four game set Saturday when lefthander Evan MacLane (2-4, 5.30) will take the mound for the Sidewinders opposed by righty Kirk Saarloos (4-1, 2.84). First pitch is at 6:00 p.m. The game will air live on COOL 1450 beginning at 5:50 p.m.
