Iowa Cubs News Release

Robinson Tejeda threw six shutout innings while leading the Oklahoma RedHawks to a 6-0 win over the Iowa Cubs at Principal Park Saturday night.

Tejeda took the win (1-1), allowing four hits while striking out eight.

The right-hander had the lead the entire night, as the RedHawks jumped out to a 1-0 lead in the first inning when Josh Botts laced a single to right field to drive in Jason Ellison. Botts finished the evening 2-for-4 with a run and two RBI. Oklahoma scored in four of the first five innings, including a two run fifth inning, in which Botts added his second RBI on the night with a one-out double to right field to drive in Nelson Cruz.

Iowa mustered together only five hits on the night, including three from Matt Murton who had a fifth-inning double. Murton finished the night 3-for-4.

I-Cubs starter Kevin Hart took the loss (1-1), giving up four runs on five hits while lasting four innings.

Oklahoma's win snapped the I-Cubs eight-game home winning streak at Principal Park, with their last home loss coming on May 6, when they fell to the Tacoma Rainiers 5-2.

Both teams return to action tomorrow for the third game of the four-game series with Randy Wells taking the hill for Iowa while Dustin Nippert will start for Oklahoma.
