LAST GAME: The RedHawks extended their winning streak to seven games with a 10-9 win over the Isotopes in Albuquerque. The 'Topes plated the games first run in the first, but the RedHawks tagged Albuquerque starter Eulogio De La Cruz for three runs in the third and three in the fourth. Not to be outdone, the Isotopes answered with a five spot in the home half of the fifth, knocking Oklahoma starting pitcher Eric Hurley from the game. Albuquerque took an 8-6 lead into the seventh, when Kevin Richardson's first home run halved the deficit. The RedHawks added three runs in the eighth and the Isotopes offense could only muster one more run. Kea Kometani earned the win, and Frank Francisco notched his third save.
Seventh Heaven: The RedHawks seven game winning streak is their longest since 2005, when the won nine straight from August 2 through 12. That year, Oklahoma also strung seven consecutive wins together from May 28 through June 3.
REGAINED POWER- The RedHawks belted six home runs over the first four games of the season at AT&T Bricktown Ballpark against Memphis. After a four game drought against Nashville, Oklahoma seems to have found its form again, knocked a home run in each of the games in Albuquerque. The Isotopes have served up at least one home run in every game they have played this season.
OPTIONED: The Rangers optioned reliever Kazuo Fukumori to the RedHawks to make room on the Major League roster for Scott Feldman, who made a spot start yesterday in Texas. A roster move will have to made to make room for Fukumori in Oklahoma. The Sendi, Miyagi, Japan native pitched nine seasons for Yokohama, one for Osaka, and three for Rakuten prior to signing with Texas during the offseason. Fukumori (pronounced foo-koo-MOH-ree) won 34 games and held an ERA of 3.68 during his professional career in Japan.
AWAITING WORD: Texas will also have to make a roster move in Oklahoma to make space for Robinson Tejeda, currently on the temporary inactive list.
ALBUQUERQUE AT A GLANCE: Doug Waechter gets the ball today. The right-hander pitched for Hudson Valley in short-season, Class-A ball and Vero Beach in the Class-A Florida State League in 2007. Waechter combined for a 6-5 record last season with the two clubs, and has made 60 major league appearances in his career, all with Tampa Bay... The Isotopes are off to their worst home start at 0-3...
AROUND THE ORGANIZATION: Texas fell 5-4 to Toronto in 10 innings... Frisco lost 4-3 to Arkansas... Bakersfield lost 11-1 at San Jose... Clinton beat West Michigan 6-2...
DOT-DOT-DOT: Manager Bobby Jones reported that Sidney Ponson remains day-to-day after leaving Friday's game in the third inning, but should still make his next scheduled start on Wednesday against Round Rock at AT&T Bricktown Ballpark. The RedHawks starter was struck by a line drive off the bat of John Gall, and immediately left the ballgame... German Duran missed his second straight game yesterday with a sore left hand. The problem occurred when the RedHawks infielder slid into third base in Friday night's win. When Duran returns to action, he will carry a five-game hitting streak to the plate.
ON THE AIR: Every game this season can be heard on the RedHawks Radio Network, led by broadcaster Jim Byers for the ninth season, and joined by Adam Marco during each homestand.
