Omaha shuts down 'Birds

Memphis, Tenn. - On a cold night at AutoZone Park the Memphis Redbirds offense was equally cold in a 4-1 loss to Omaha.

Three Royals pitchers combined to shutdown the Memphis offense. Starter Jorge De La Rosa tossed five innings and allowed one run on four hits with four strikeouts to pick up the win. Joel Peralta and Neal Musser each pitched two scoreless innings to secure the victory. For Musser it was his third save of the season. The Omaha offense struck first with Ryan Shealy's solo blast in the second inning and Mike Aviles' RBI-double in the third. Angel Berroa added an insurance run in the ninth inning with his second homer of the year. Berroa ended the night with three hits and two runs scored.

David Freese led the Memphis offense with two of the team's six hits. Colby Rasmus drove in the ‘Birds only run with a single to centerfield in the third inning that scored Freese. Mike Parisi took the loss after giving up three runs on nine hits with six strikeouts across six innings.

Memphis will welcome Albuquerque to town for the first time this year tomorrow night. Blake Hawksworth is set to go for the Redbirds against Albuquerque's Chris Seddon. First pitch is slated for 7:05 p.m.
