TODAY'S OPPONENT:
The Round Rock Express are the Triple-A affiliate of the Houston Astros. Last season, the Express finished first in the American South with a record of 85-59.
VS. ROUND ROCK:
The RedHawks lead the season series 7-6. The Express took three of four from the Hawks July 12-15 at AT&T Bricktown Ballpark. The RedHawks won three of four games April 21-24 at The Dell Diamond. The Hawks and Express split a 4-game series June 7-10 at The Brick. Victor Diaz is hitting .375 with 10 RBIs in six games, Nelson Cruz is hitting .333 with two homers and 11 RBIs in eight games and Tug Hulett is batting .314 with a two homers and seven RBIs in 12 games against the Express this season.
TODAY'S GAME:
This is game 99 of the season, the second of this series and the 14th of 16 meetings between Oklahoma and Round Rock this season.
ROSTER MOVES: Ezequiel Astacio
was activated off of the DL yesterday.
LAST GAME:
The RedHawks won their fourth straight road game, defeating the Express 7-1 last night. The Hawks took an early 1-0 lead on Hulett's solo homer in the first inning. Kevin Mahar added one of his own in the second inning, giving the RedHawks a 2-0. The Express scored their only run in the third inning, making the score 2-1. The Hawks added two runs in each of the sixth and seventh innings to make the score 6-1. Nate Gold hit his 13th homer of the season in the ninth inning to give the RedHawks a 7-1 lead. Starter Alfredo Simon earned his fourth win of the season, allowing one run on five hits in six innings.
PITCHING MATCHUP: Eric Hurley
gets the ball for the fifth time as a RedHawk. He didn't figure in the decision in his last start Sunday against the Express, allowing two runs on seven hits in six innings. Troy Patton goes to the hill for the Express. Patton hasn't faced the RedHawks this season.
ROAD RALLY:
The Hawks are 10-2 in their last 12 road games. They have outscored their opponents 89-40 on the road in their last 12 games. The Hawks are hitting .310 with 20 homers, including at least one in 11 straight, in their last 12 road games. The pitching staff has a 2.89 ERA in during the same time.
HOT HULETT:
Hulett brings a current team-high 9-game hitting streak into tonight after going 1-for-4 with a homer last night. He also brings a 13-game road hitting streak into the game. He's hitting .333 through 17 games in July after hitting just .190 in 28 games during June. Hulett has at least one hit in 19 of his last 21 games.
GOLDEN HOMER:
The RedHawks improved to 5-0 in the last five games Gold has homered. Gold tied Jason Botts for the team lead with 13 homers. Gold has at least one hit in 20 of the last 22 games.
LEAGUE LEADERS:
Botts leads the PCL with a .436 on-base percentage, he's tied for second with 34 doubles and third with 51 extra-base hits. Freddy Guzman leads the league with 34 stolen bases.
DOT-DOT-DOT:
The RedHawks are 9-6 on Saturday this season...they 8-9 in July after going 18-10 in June...Simon (9), Francisco Cruceta (6) and Randy Williams (2) combined to strikeout a season-high 17 batters last night...Simon had the fourth quality start for the RedHawks on this road trip...the Hawks have scored the first run in all five road games during this trip. They have led for 35 of 44 innings played on the road trip...the bullpen has allowed only two earned runs in 12.1 innings during the road trip...Adam Fox has made the most of his first two games in Triple-A, going 5-for -8 with three RBIs...Diaz has at least one RBI in four straight games...
