Gabe Gross Optioned To Nashville

July 21, 2007 - Pacific Coast League (PCL1)
Nashville Sounds News Release

Outfielder Gabe Gross was optioned to Nashville this afternoon by Milwaukee when former Sound Chris Spurling returned from the Brewers' bereavement list. He is expected to join the Sounds on Tuesday.

The 27-year-old left-handed hitter has batted .202 (18-for-89) with four home runs and nine RBIs in 55 games for Milwaukee this season. He had been used sparingly of late, collecting only 18 at-bats in June and 17 at-bats in July.

"Hopefully I'll be able to go down and get some at-bats," Gross told MLB.com writer Adam McCalvy on Saturday. "It's been two years since I've been able to play every day, so that's going to be nice. I'm looking forward to waking up every day knowing my name is going to be in the lineup."

Gross, who played collegiate ball at Auburn University, last appeared in the minors in 2005, when he batted .297 in 102 games for Syracuse (AAA-Blue Jays).

No corresponding move will be needed to add Gross to the Nashville roster as the club currently stands one short of the 24-man PCL active limit following the call-ups of pitchers Grant Balfour and Manny Parra to Milwaukee earlier this week.
