Oklahoma City Comets News Release

TODAY: The RedHawks conclude their second homestand of the season with the fourth and final game against the New Orleans Zephyrs (Florida Marlins). OKC has guaranteed itself a winning record on the stand, entering today's 4:05 pm game with a 5-2 record. Since they lead this series 2-1, a win today would give the RedHawks their fourth series win of the season to go with a pair of splits. New Orleans handed OKC its most lopsided defeat of the season last night, 8-3, as the Z's Scott Cousins hit for the cycle. Lefty Michael Ballard gets the start today for the RedHawks. He'll be opposed by righthander Jorge Sosa.

DAVIS GOES 4-FOR-4: Chris Davis accounted for 4 of OKC's 7 hits last night and had a chance to homer for a cycle in the ninth inning, but singled. The RedHawks have had a 4-hit game in two of the last three after not having one in the season's first 20 contests. Davis' near cycle went in order, with a single in the second inning, a double in the fourth and triple in the seventh. New Orleans' Scott Cousins accomplished a cycle last night in reverse order: homer (second inning), triple (fourth), double (fifth) and broken-bat single in the ninth after flying out in the seventh.

BOGGS BASHES: OKC's Brandon Boggs belted a 2-run homer to right field last night against winning pitcher Brian Lawrence, becoming the first RedHawk to homer in consecutive games this season. Boggs had a solo shot off of Ryan Tucker on Friday. This series, Boggs is 6-for-11 with 2 homers and 5 RBIs. All 3 of his home runs this season have come in the last 5 games.

SETTING THE PACE: OKC leads the PCL with 139 runs, 10 more than second place Albuquerque. OKC has out-scored the opposition during this homestand 60-32. The RedHawks lead the league in home runs (25), triples (12), on-base percentage (.366) and are second in slugging (.466 and team batting (.288).

SMALL NUMBERS: OKC is second in team ERA at 3.10 behind Nashville's 2.82. Even after allowing a season-high 14 hits last night, the RedHawks maintain the league's second-lowest WHIP (walks + hits per innings pitched) at 1.21. Derek Holland leads the PCL in ERA at 0.53, while Michael Kirkman is ninth at 2.12. Brandon McCarthy, on the DL with a stress reaction in his right shoulder is 11th at 2.51.

LEADERS: Chad Tracy leads the PCL in total bases (54) and is tied for the lead in extra-base hits (13). Tracy is tied for second in RBIs (20) and hits (28), while tied for third in homers (6) and fifth in slugging (.651). Esteban German is second in runs scored with 19.

STREAKERS: Jarrod Saltalamacchia owns an 8-game hitting streak, matching Justin Smoak for the team high in 2010. During the streak, Saltalamacchia is 12-for-31 (.387) with 2 homers and 7 RBIs. Chad Tracy has a 15-game on-base streak. Gregorio Petit had a 6-game hitting streak snapped last night. Mitch Moreland had a 5-game hitting streak halted.

HOW HOLLAND'S ERA RANKS: Derek Holland's 0.53 ERA ranks fifth in all of professional baseball (majors and minors) to this point in the season among those with enough innings to qualify.
