May 2, 2010 - Pacific Coast League (PCL1)
New Orleans Baby Cakes News Release
Game Keys - Jose Veras extinguished the Oklahoma City ninth inning rally to earn his first save of the season and preserve a Zephyrs 8-7 win on Sunday.
The Redhawks scored 3 ninth inning runs, sending nine batters to the plate and getting six hits but the rally fell short and the Zephyrs win the final two games of the series earning a split. Outfielder Bryan Petersen threw out Chris Davis at home plate to save a run in the ninth and Veras pitched out of a bases loaded jam. Jason Lane drilled a two run home run the sixth inning to tie the game. The Z's grabbed the lead in the seventh inning on a two out single from Emilio Bonafacio. Jorge Sosa gets the win and Willie Eyre takes the loss for Oklahoma City. The Z's were outscored 24-4 in the first two games but recover winning the final two and get a spilt against the division leaders.
Game Notes: Shortstop Donnie Murphy was activated from the disabled list and Hunter Mence was assigned to Class A Jupiter. The Z's will make another roster move on Monday as Brad Stone is slated to get the start for New Orleans against the Cubs. Stone will be promoted from Class AA Jacksonville.
Coming Up: The Zephyrs return home to play the Iowa Cubs on Monday night at Zephyr Field. Brad Stone makes the start for New Orleans against Iowa RH Casey Coleman (1-2, 4.38). RADIO: 106.1 FM WMTI
