Tacoma Rainiers News Release

Tacoma, WA - The Tacoma Rainiers let a close one slip away in a 3-1 loss to Reno in their series finale with the Aces at Cheney Stadium on Sunday.

With the game tied at 1-1 heading into the eighth, Tacoma reliever Andy Baldwin gave up a bases-loaded double to Aces outfielder Jeff Bailey that drove in Mark Hallberg and Doug Deeds and put Reno on top for good in the outing.

The Aces strike broke up what had been a game in gridlock since the conclusion of the first inning. Reno's Ryan Roberts notched an RBI-double in the top of the inning that drove in Chris Rahl from second and paved the way to an early 1-0 Aces lead.

The Rainiers answered back with a run of their own in the bottom of the first after Josh Wilson scored off a sacrifice fly from third baseman Jack Hannahan to tie the game at one-all until the Aces final blow in the eighth.

Reno starter Billy Buckner earned his second win of the season after holding the Rainiers to just one run on five hits with two walks and eight strikeouts. Reliever Jordan Norberto picked up the save, posting a scoreless performance and allowing two hits over the final two innings of the game.

Baldwin was responsible for the loss in the outing, after giving up the go-ahead runs in the eighth. The right-hander ended the night walking two and fanning five over two innings of action.

The Rainiers now hit the road and travel to Portland to take on a four-game series with the Beavers. Scheduled to take the mound for Tacoma is left-hander Chris Seddon against Portland right-hander Cesar Carrillo, with first pitch set for 7:05 p.m.
